Original "Fort Apache" Play Set, by Marx. WOW! Just like you remember...all of those rainy Saturday afternoons, back in the late '50's and early '60's...spent on the floor staging scenes from John Wayne movies! This is the BIG one...Marx's "Fort Apache", and it STILL IS IN THE ORIGINAL BOX!! As rare as these sets are, Poptoppers, even more so is to find the box, this one being marked "Louis Marx & Co. Inc. 200 Fifth Ave. New York 10, New York" (not the more common "Glen Dale, West Virginia" box.) Yes, this set is in good condition, the box shows the wear and tear of much happy play...but some kid obviously loved this set enough to have kept it intact! This "Magic Marxie Toy" includes: the litho-tin log cabin, block houses and walls in brown plastic, the "Fort Apache" gateway with sign still intact, the litho-tin American Flag (20 star version), powder-blue cavalrymen, yellow injuns with bows and arrows, tomahawks and *gulp* SCALPS in their hands(!), totem poles, tree, a cannon, cream and black horses, a teepee, and various accessories such as a butter-churn, log piles, an anvil, etc. All of the parts are in great shape and unbroken, even the axe-in-the-tree-stump and the water bucket dipper, notoriously fragile! This classic play set even has the ladders that those pesky redskins would use to climb up the fort's walls during a sneak attack! But don't worry, Robert Mitchum, Richard Widmark and the Duke can handle them...*BLAMM, BLAMM, BLAMMO*!! This is the real deal, NOT A REPRO...recapture a fond memory from your childhood. Fort Apache. Only one in stock.
