Disney's "Fantasia" Centaurette Figurine *SOLD*
[RARE]
$225.00

(Sorry, out of stock...SOLD for $225.00) Disney's "Fantasia" Centaurette Figurine. A beautiful limited-edition figurine from the classic 1940 Walt Disney feature film "Fantasia". This is MINT-IN-BOX, NEVER OPENED...this figurine enjoyed a brief "firing" run in 1994 and was retired the following year. "Fantasia" was the ground breaking film compiled from several short pieces by all of the best Disney animators of the Golden Age, all set to music of the great composers played by Leopold Stokowski and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Who could forget Mickey Mouse in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" piece? Or the dancing hippos? The "centaurette" character (a female centaur) is from the segment built around Beethoven's "Pastoral" Symphony. This particular segment in the film caught some flack back in 1940 because of its brief glimpses of...gulp...topless centaurettes! "Fantasia" was the first film to be shown with a stereo soundtrack. That's right, back in 1940 the Disney folks devised a 4-track sound system called "Fantasound" which, in the few theatres that could handle the new technology, required a hook-up of as many as 90 speakers! A little-known fact on this tangent is that the Disney folks, as if the "stereo" thing wasn't enough, wanted to pump individual, changing scents into the theatres to go along with the themes of the different segments of the film! That one didn't happen. Anyway, here is a piece of film history, a 7 1/2" tall "Fantasia" figurine entitled "Romantic Reflections." Out of stock.
