1983 Kronoform "Scorpia" Transforming Robot Watch (Takara)*SOLD*
[RARE]
$85.00

(Sorry, out of stock...SOLD for $85.00) Vintage Kronoform "Scorpia" Transforming Robot Watch, by Takara. In the early 1980's, with Hasbro's "Transformers" line of robot toys soon to off like wildfire in the US, the Takara toy company in Japan (who had licensed out many of their old Diaclone robots to Hasbro) must have decided to get a piece of the action directly by starting their "Kronoform" line in the States. Some were even called "Diakron" robots, harking back to their Diaclone origins. Basically put, these are "Pre-Transformers". Here is a beautiful boxed Scorpia, the "Incredible Robot Time Machine" who transforms into a creepy-looking scorpion. In the USA, Takara attempted to develop a "good vs. evil" story line around the Kronoform characters, but it never went anywhere, as the Transformers and GoBots had taken too much of a marketing lead in the States. This short-lived Takara entry from a quarter-century ago is a very tough-get these days as they did not sell particularly well back in 1983 (without much of a TV show tie-in). Scorpia is a true PRE-TRANSFORMER in that he (she?) did get released as a Transformer in the G2 era! A piece of Transformers history, yours for the purchasing. Hurry! The actual watch was once removed but is now safely nestled back within its plastic bubble. Box shows moderate shelf-wear. But...I kid you not...THESE ARE MEGA-RARE, with their original box! Out of stock.
