A beautiful diecast "Lion Force" Voltron robot, originally from the 1981 Japanese TV series "Hyakujuu-ou GoLion". The Voltron robot was comprised of five "lions" piloted by human crewmembers who could band together and transform into the mighty Voltron, Defender of the Universe. Voltron had the task of defending planet Arus and Princess Allura from the evil plots...and robeasts...of the Witch Haggar, doing the bidding of Prince Lotor and King Zarkon of the planet Doom. This is a great little robot: the original 1984 Matchbox version, highly-detailed and well-painted. The multi-colored GoLion/Voltron III has always been a favorite of Mr. Pop Top's...it's a true icon of the world of sci-fi anime and Japanese mecha. This is the small version of this wonderful toy, with Voltron standing 6" tall. This one is in MINT-CONDITION, UNOPENED, UNPLAYED, COMPLETE!! This robot goes nicely with the "Miniature Blazing Sword Set" (sold separately at The Pop Top Shop). A difficult find nowadays...every kid in the States played with theirs until they got all chipped up and broken...only an intrepid few like Mr. Pop Top had the foresight to have kept this one in its original box, out of sunlight, protected in his time capsule...waiting for your collection. This toy (and its large-size DX counterpart also issued by Matchbox) were the subject of a huge lead-paint recall in the 80's and many of them were returned to the company to be destroyed, making this all the more RARE!!
