Original 1969 "Hair" Souvenir Program (London Cast) *SOLD*
[RARE]
$95.00

(Sorry, out of stock...SOLD for $95.00) Original 1969 "Hair" Souvenir Program (London Cast). A GENUINE RELIC from the "Age of Aquarius". The now-classic "American Tribal Love-Rock Musical" Hair opened (to very mixed reviews) at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London on September 27, 1968 with the same creative team as the Broadway version. Hair was presented by a young Robert Stigwood who, at the time, was still managing the rock groups Cream and The Bee Gees! The show got to the hairy center of everything the "hippie" movement was about. As was the case in other early productions, the London show had a sprinkling of uniquely British references and other minor departures from the Broadway version. The nudity involved in the show was ground-breaking for its day, especially in merry-old-England. The original London "tribe" included Sonja Kristina, Paul Nicholas, Richard O'Brien, Melba Moore, Elaine Paige, Paul Korda, Marsha Hunt, Floella Benjamin, Alex Harvey and...Tim Curry! This was Curry's FIRST full-time theatrical acting role, where he met future "Rocky Horror Show" collaborator O'Brien. The cast in this program includes Gary Aflalo, Christopher Neil and Maxine Nightingale. Hair's engagement in London surpassed the Broadway production, running for 1,997 performances until its closure was forced by the roof collapsing in July 1973! What a way to end a run!! Own a piece of pop-culture history...this is in VG-F condition and is complete. Hard to find, folks...make it yours! Out of stock.
