Evel Knievel 1974/1 #1 FIRST ISSUE (Marvel/Ideal) *SOLD*
[RARE]
$10.00

(Sorry, out of stock...SOLD for $10.00) Evel Knievel #1, by Marvel and Ideal Toys, from 1974. This was a one-shot toy tie-in special comic book to promote Ideal's new line of action toys. The story is "The Perilous Traps of Mr. Danger". The inside back cover features a photo of Evel himself, complete with "autograph"! The late Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel was a superstar at the time for his daring, well-publicized stunts, jumping motorcycles over school buses, cars, etc....even an effort to jump across Snake River Canyon on a rocket (Mr. Pop Top remembers listening to this 1974 event live on ABC Radio...yes...radio!) Eventually fate took its toll on Evel, sidelined with injuries, he retired, and made his last jump into eternity on November 30, 2007 (his son Robbie carries on). The Ideal Toy line was promoted by Marvel comics, helped also by a feature film bio with George Hamilton. This is a real slice of early 70's pop culture. The inside cover has Evel giving bicycle safety tips to America's youth! The magazine is in near-mint condition, and measures 10 1/4" x 6 1/2". Out of stock.
