Original Roblock "Skymaster" Transforming Robot (Tente) *SOLD*
[RARE]
$95.00

(Sorry, out of stock...SOLD for $95.00) Original Roblock "Skymaster" Transforming Robot, by Tente. Here is a real oddity...the Roblock series from the Spanish toymaker Tente...Were they "Transformers"? Were they model kits? Were they Legos?? These never turned up in mainstream toystores when they came out in the early 1980's, just specialty import shops mostly...nobody new how to market them. Hasbro tried for a while to sell these alongside of their popular "Transformers" line, but American kids didn't rise to the bait. This one is in MINT-CONDITION...just as if was still 1984 outside (look out your window...it isn't). Skymaster, accompanied by two able-bodied pilots (figures included who ride within the robot), transforms from a tall humanoid robot into what appears to be a cool space ship with a grapple/pincer on the front! These were ingenious toys...Tente had come up with a system of interlocking blocks similar to Legos (but, however, incompatible). They had a line of highly-detailed sets from which you could build any manner of military vehicle, ships, commercial vehicles, and, like Skymaster...transforming robots. The hinged pieces actually allowed for jointed mutations in your finished model. They worked great unless you were ham-handed, and then they just started to come apart!! Pretty embarassing at the school bus stop, when the rest of your buddies were playing with their GoBots and Transformers! Because of the tenuous nature of these toys and their propensity to lose pieces left and right, these are an ULTRA-RARITY now! To find one in top condition a quarter-century later, as this one is, is unheard of...these elaborate (244 pieces) puzzle-like kits just begged to be taken out and played with. Skymaster is a great find and would make an interesting conversation piece amongst your other collectible robots. Out of stock.
