Vintage "Mechagodzilla" Astro Dinosaur (Hong Kong)
[RARE]
$85.00

Vintage "Mechagodzilla" Astro Dinosaur, made in Hong Kong. What a great battery-operated unlicensed Godzilla toy! Highly collectible. From 1985, this guy walks and lights his eyes and menacing mouth, all operated by a wired remote control. Mechagodzilla was a robotic Godzilla "double" created by aliens known as Simians...evil ape-men who wished destruction upon planet Earth. He first showed up in "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla", a 1974 movie thriller where he arrived on Earth covered in a rubber Godzilla suit and wreaked havoc upon Japan masquerading as the real Godzilla. Soon, the real Godzilla appeared and in the ensuing battle Mechagodzilla's "suit" was ripped off, exposing him as a robotic imposter! The battle continued in the sequel from 1975, "Terror of Mechagodzilla". This toy could almost qualify as a "super deformed" version of the bad dude who tried to steal Godzilla's thunder. It is in MINT-CONDITION in its original box from almost a quarter-century ago...and he still works, too! Don't let him amble into someone else's collection! Only one in stock.
