Mini Lindy Van Go "Can Van" Volkswagen Bus Kit, by Lindberg. WOW, gang...an UNBUILT, COMPLETE Volkswagen Bus kit in this famous series of Lindberg "Snap Fit" kits. Released in 1977, the Van Go kits were the second wave of Lindberg's attempt at "build-it-yourself-Matchbox/Hot Wheels" cars and trucks in roughly HO scale. These kits combined the worlds of "models" and "toys"! The first group of these "Mini Lindy" miniatures were more like actual US Mail trucks, school buses, passenger cars, etc. intended for "realistic" use in train layouts, etc. The Van Go series used many of the same moulds, but the decals were intended to "soup them up" with "hippy psychedelia", rainbows, lightning bolts, etc. The Van Go's were each given "catchy" names such as "Vandit", "Gypsy Van", "Van Do Van"...this one is the VW Bus "Can Van". The Van Go kits with their colorful decals are generally more RARE than some of the others! These kits were revered for there miniature detail, right down to chrome inserts, clear windows, detailed engines...and they even included metal weights which you would place inside the chassis so that your kit car would "feel heavy" like a diecast car!
