(Sorry, OUT OF STOCK...SOLD for $35.00) Original "Chelsea" Can, by Anheuser-Busch. Here is a real RARITY from 1978...a vintage "Chelsea" can! Marketed by Anheuser-Busch as "the not so soft drink", Chelsea was a sparkling beverage, vaguely clear caramel in color, poured with a frothy head, and tasted...somewhat...familiar. Hmmm. It tasted amazingly like...BEER! And it had a trace amount of alcohol in it, to boot. And, yes, it was test-marketed in a handful of cities and was, curiously enough, popular with kids! You can imagine the immediate public mass-media reaction against this "gateway drug" masquerading as a kid's soft drink, as some back then would have had you believe. Why, next, it could be, who knows? Heroin?? It was QUICKLY pulled from shelves, reworked without the alcohol, and soon thereafter...flopped. It was actually a drink ahead of its time, in that it was made with all natural ingredients and spices, and the alcohol was just a natural byproduct of the brewing process. Oh well. Poor Chelsea; we hardly knew ye. The can we offer today is an opened pop-top can from its original Richmond, Virginia test-marketing (alcohol content line can be seen at the bottom edge...soon removed). Can is in VG-F condition...you will be hard-pressed to find one of these anywhere...we have one! Out of stock.
