Original 1991 Commemorative Baltimore Orioles Memorial Stadium Umbrella. Here's a great sports collectible, a MINT CONDITION umbrella available only to attendees of certain games at the now-demolished Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, MD during the 1991 season. It was an historic season for the O's: Cal Ripken, Jr. had 7 RBI's in a game versus the Texas Rangers; President George H.W. Bush attended a baseball game in Baltimore with Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The two saw the Oakland Athletics play the Baltimore Orioles for two innings; Cal Ripken, Jr. became the fourth shortstop in the history of Major League Baseball to have 30 (!) home runs in one season and won the AL MVP award; Cal Ripken Jr won the Gold Glove in 1991 after missing out in 1990 even though he set the single season record for both fewest errors by a Shortstop (3) and also the record for most balls fielded in a single season. Yes, it was a good year for Cal, and here is a small piece of history...this umbrella features the Memorial Stadium logo "A Season to Remember 1954-1991", and the WMAR-TV 2 logo. Pop it open the next time yor in Droodle Park, hon, an' it starts inta rainin'...then, go have yorself a Natty Bo, the best beer in town!! Sorry, I slipped into Balmerese for a second, there! Don't wait too long on this one...only one in stock, hon!
