National Geographic 1936/8
[RARE]
$20.00

National Geographic Magazine from August 1936. Another example of the greatness that was National Geographic in the 1930's...articles on "An August First in Gruyeres", "Green Gruyere, Home of a Swiss Cheese", "New Safeguards for Ships in Fog and Storm", "Merry Maskers of Imst", "Sea Creatures of our Atlantic Shores", "Undersea Gardens of the North Atlantic Coast", "Where Birds and Little Animals Find Haven", and "Rambling Around the Roof of North America". Splendidly illustrated and written issue, in Good condition for its age, with some edge wear, staining and a small area of spine wear. The usual collection of great old advertisements abound: Goodrich "Safety Silvertown" Tires (old radio buffs recall them as long-time sponsors of "The Shadow"), Grace Lines, Bell Telephone, and more. The back cover has one of the few horizontal Coca Cola ads depicting a frosty Coke dispensing machine trapped in the ice floes of the frozen North. Is THIS what the "Titanic" hit? Ad also shows the "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval" next to the young lady, possibly in the throes of lockjaw, drinking the icy bottle of cola. Magazine dimensions 10" x 7". Only one in stock.
