From one of the most popular early action transforming robot shows on Japanese TV, 1978's "Invincible Steel Man Daitarn 3", comes this beautiful, heavy diecast metal toy. The Daitarn 3 show involved a 16-year-old boy who, with the help of his mechanical guardian, the robot Daitarn 3, had to save the day from evil (hmmm...a lot of these shows had kind of the same plot!). These diecast metal robots are hard to find these days, my friends. This one is MINT-IN-BOX, never played, complete with all of its original accessories, battleaxes, spears, missiles, instruction sheet, etc.! Daitarn 3 has three transformations possible, as shown on the package art. The box has a trace amount of ruffling at the edge, not from wear, but just from the fact that these weren't the best packages, even back in 1978! This Daitarn 3 is the last "Taiwan" version of this toy, with chrome thighs and window-in-box. Still, a tough "get" now 30 years later, and this one is as originally packaged; like a virgin!! (Apologies to Madonna). Mr. Pop Top (original owner) well remembers buying this one 30 years ago from one of the many Vietnamese specialty shops that popped up in Northern Virginia in the wake of the Vietnam War. The Vietnamese refugee community (with their shops and restaurants) not only brought some great food, music and asian culture to the table around these parts, but their love of all-things-mecha as well. Quite a few oddball robots, battery-powered toys, etc. to be had back then from their stores.
