(Sorry, Out of stock...SOLD for 35.00) 1950 Tide Detergent Box, by Procter & Gamble. From the post-war era of modern conveniences comes "NEW KING-SIZE TIDE". Yes, an actual box of Tide detergent from almost 60 years ago (opened, but with 1/3 of the box still full! The box is in great shape for its age). Intrestingly enough, in regards to the history of advertising, this fascinating Tide box design from 1950 (by Donald Deskey Associates) was recently singled out by The New York Times in an article on the most important cultural icons of the 20th century, alongside of such design greats as the CBS "eye" logo and the Ford Model "T". Quoting the New York Times contributor Ellen Lupton, "The orange-and-yellow Tide box, with its hypnotic blaze of concentric circles, has become an undying icon of American life.'' And we have one! This would be perfect on a display shelf in your retro kitchen or utility room. I mean, just think of it...this may possibly be the only one of these left in existence. Who would be crazy enough to have saved a box of detergent for over a half-century, besides Mr. Pop Top?? Lucky you, for finding this website. The back of the box features a perky June Cleaver-type housewife extolling the virtues of using Tide...as opposed to, say, beating your wet laundry on a big rock down at the creek. Make this important piece of 1950's pop culture yours today! Out of stock.
