Jungle Action #17, published by Marvel Comics. A real treat for comic collectors, from September 1975...a wild adventure featuring The Black Panther called "Panther's Rage". The Black Panther, T'Challa, was the first modern black superhero. The Black Panther was also one of the first non-caricatured black characters in all of comics to have his own series. It was indeed rare to see a person of color in the comics from their inception in the early 20th century...after years and years of promoting the image of shuffling, minstrel-faced sidekicks and comical, subservient peripheral characters...bellhops, maids, elevator operators, etc. The Black Panther came along and was the embodiment of cool mixed with with incredible strength and courage. To sum it up, The Black Panther kicked ass! Created by the great Stan Lee and legendary artist Jack Kirby, he first appeared in Fantastic Four #52 in July 1966. This tale is scripted by Don McGregor with action-packed artwork by Billy Graham (no, no, NOT the preacher). This copy is in VG-F condition and is a real slice of the 70's...don't miss it! Only one in stock.
