Ms. Magazine Marilyn Monroe Issue 1972/8 #2 *SOLD*
[RARE]
$45.00

(Sorry, out of stock...SOLD for $45) Ms. Magazine Marilyn Monroe Issue, #2 from August 1972. Wow! Only the SECOND ISSUE of this ground-breaking magazine...from the era of "miss" and "hey, stewardess", feminist pioneer Gloria Steinem and partners came out with "Ms." Magazine in 1972. It rocked the male-dominated world at the time with not only the title of the mag itself, but articles by the best thinkers in the quest for equality and respect between the sexes. This issue #2 from August, 1972 is in VF-MINT condition and is a tough-get in the world of magazine collecting. The Marilyn Monroe cover story, "The Woman Who Died Too Soon" is penned by Steinem herself, and predated her hardcover "Marilyn" book by many years. Other articles include a piece by Kate Millett on the trial of the seemingly perpetual fugitive Angela Davis, a comic graphic piece on "What If Pat Nixon were a Feminist?", a serious photo essay on the "Women of Bangladesh", and Doris Lessing's "Not a Very Nice Story". A real slice of the turbulent times! Also, this has some great ads within, including a great "Cover Girl" makeup ad featuring Cheryl Tiegs glopping on some super-thick eyelashes (kind of out of place in a feminist mag, with the whole "man-pleasing" Kabuki dancer makeup thing, don't you think?) and a Gold-Formula Breck ad on the back cover with a lovely brunette "Breck Girl" (a very young Jaclyn Smith...a future "Charlie's Angel" in her modeling days!) with some super-thick hair spilling over her sweatered shoulders. I guess super-thick was "the look" in 1972! This magazine is truly a piece of pop-culture history. Out of stock.
