National Geographic 1952/5
[RARE]
$20.00

National Geographic Magazine from May 1952.. Another splendid example of National Geographic magazine in the 1950's...articles on "I Sailed with Portugal's Captains Courageous" by the legendary seaman, author and photographer, the late Alan Villiers (beautiful, beautiful photos of Grand Banks schooners, taken by Villiers), "The Making of a West Pointer", "Cyprus, Idyllic Island in a Troubled Sea" (more beautiful photos, including some attractive Cypriot babes with Kodachrome-red lips gripping and grinning for the camera while holding clay pots, etc.), "Nature's Tank, the Turtle" (with Walter Weber paintings), and "Thumbs Up Round the North Sea's Rim". Splendidly illustrated and written issue, in VF condition. Plenty of old ads: Sheaffer Pen's classic ad on the back cover with trick-photography "pens on the march" (reminiscent of "Nude Descending a Staircase"!), the Matson Line ships to Hawaii , Bell Telephone, Air France, the Remington "Quiet-riter" typewriter (huh? Hey, Mom and Dad, what's a typewriter?!), Contax and Leica cameras, Sanka "coffee", New York Central Railway, Canadian Pacific, Southern, etc.. Magazine dimensions 10" x 7". Only one in stock.
