Giant-Size X-Men 1975/5 #1 FIRST ISSUE *SOLD*
[RARE]
$800.00

(Sorry, out of stock...SOLD for $800.00) Giant-Size X-Men #1, from Marvel Comics. AN INCREDIBLY RARE FIND...a MINT, PERFECT COPY of one of the seminal, linchpin editions in the X-Men mythos! Giant-Size X-Men #1 was a ONE-TIME-ONLY issue of the X-Men comic book series, published by Marvel Comics. It was written by Len Wein and illustrated by Dave Cockrum. Though not a regular issue, it jumpstarted the series after a five-year long hiatus. The issue serves as a link between the original X-Men and a new team. Chronologically it is placed before The X-Men #94. The 68 page issue was published with a May 1975 cover date and distributed to newsstands in February of said year. Mr. Pop Top remembers well buying this one from a Rexall Drug Store in Mineral, Virginia many, many moons ago...and keeping it in PRISTEEN CONDITION to this very day for your collecting amusement. THIS IS AN INVESTMENT-GRADE COMIC BOOK...not to be trifled with, my friends...it's the real deal. The story within links the "old" X-Men team with the new, as the original team (Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Angel, Iceman, and Beast) ventures to the island of Krakoa and vanishes. Cyclops is allowed to return to tell Professor X what has happened. This prompts the professor to assemble a new team of X-Men to stage a rescue. The new team includes Sunfire and Banshee, who had been introduced in earlier X men comics; Wolverine, who had made his first appearance in the Marvel Universe in The Incredible Hulk #180 (Oct. 1974); and the newly created Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Thunderbird. The team soon learn that Krakoa is not just an island, but a giant mutant as well. The new team is successful in rescuing the old X-Men as well as destroying the island by shooting it into outer space with Polaris' power, despite hiccups in their first time working together. The issue ends by posing the question of the future of the 13 X-Men. The comic also collects reprints from The X-Men #43, #47 and #57. A GORGEOUS piece of Marvel mayhem. MINT. Think *investment*. Think about adding another "0" to the price of this when you re-sell it in 20 years. Remember what you could get "Action Comics" #1 for back in the 1960's? Got your attention on that one, didn't I? Acquire this important issue today...before...well you know. Oops, too late. Can't say we didn't warn you. You waited too long. It's gone. Out of stock.
