Vintage "Spirit of St. Louis" Kit (Hawk)
[RARE]
$65.00

Vintage "Spirit of St. Louis" Model Kit, from Hawk. Wow! A FACTORY-SEALED BOX from 1965 of this CLASSIC 1/72 scale model kit by Hawk. The Spirit of St. Louis (Registration: N-X-211) was the custom-built single engine, single seat monoplane that was flown solo by Charles Lindbergh in May of 1927, on the FIRST non-stop flight from New York to Paris...for which Lindbergh won the $25,000 "Orteig Prize", and a lifetime of notoriety, both good and bad. Can you imagine how daunting the concept of crossing the Atlantic Ocean in an airplane was at the time? It was viewed as a distinct impossibility by all but a few brave pioneers at Ryan aircraft, who, along with Lindbergh, really believed in this plane. They were right! And the rest is history. The actual "Spirit" now is on display at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. And, if Mr. Pop Top can digress, go rent the 1956 Jimmy Stewart movie about this interesting historical feat, it is appropriately entitled "The Spirit of St. Louis". In fact, you could be watching it, and set this great COLLECTORS' ITEM kit on top of the telly for added impact! But...you need to BUY it first. Go ahead...move the cursor down to that "Add to Cart" button right over there. That's it! Now...CLICK! It's just that simple! Kit is MINT CONDITION, with original shrink-wrapping (slight box concavity due to shrink-wrapping...common in Hawk kits from this time period). This primo kit is 45 years old, Poptoppers!! Only one in stock.
