National Geographic Special John Glenn Space Issue, from June 1962. A F-VF condition copy of this GREAT issue, loaded with incredible photos as usual, with the articles "John Glenn's Three Orbits of the Earth"...TERRIFIC early NASA spaceflight article! (We orbited the Earth! Take that, Commies!!! Nanny nanny boo boo. What, you're too busy putting missiles in Cuba to be bothered?), "In the Crusaders' Footsteps", "Colonel Glenn Receives Societiy's Hubbard Medal", "Ice Age Man vs. Mammoth in Wyoming" (sounds like a pay-per-view event to Mr. Pop Top), "Storks, Vanishing Sentinels of Europe's Rooftops", and "Avalanche! 3,500 Peruvians Perish in Seven Minutes". Insert map is absent. Also loaded with ads for Zenith color TV's, Sony's "truly portable" TV (straight out of The Jetsons), Magnavox, Chrysler, and a great Coca-Cola ad on the back cover...one of the classic "ZING!" ads featuring a hairsprayed bikini lass doling out Cokes to two eager young fellows in a pool, offering them a "refreshing new feeling". Maybe she's really offering to help them make a sandwich. Hmmmm. 1962 was a big year for Coca Cola...they went nationwide with their new 16oz size bottles, and they got a trademark on the name "Coke". Pick this copy up today for your collection! Only one in stock.
