German "V-1" and Japanese "Oka" Bombs Kit, from Testors. From over 30 years ago comes this unique, out-of-production 1/48 scale DOUBLE KIT of both the German V-1 "buzz" bomb and the Japanese "Oka" (Cherry Blossom) manned flying bomb from World War II. The infamous V-1's waged a campaign of terror in the skies of London as these loud, whirring unmanned winged missiles were launched from across the English Channel with fairly decent accuracy. The buzz bombs would make their noise as they flew, and then go silent as they dropped down to hit their target...a moment of horror for the men, women and children below. The same engineers who worked on the V-1 rocket program migrated to the V-2 rocket program, and after the war...some migrated to what later became NASA's rocket program!! Funny how history goes, in a grim sort of way. The Japanese "Oka" bomb, from the final months of the war, was a suicide weapon carrying a lone pilot who had said all of his "goodbyes" in preparation for steering this gliding bomb into the side of an Allied aircraft carrier. The Allies nicknamed these desperate devices "Baka" bombs...which translates to "stupid". This truly different kit is MINT, UNOPENED with PARTS STILL TREED and BAGGED (the box has a "store stamp" on the front, otherwise in good shape). All inserts are included, decals, instructions, etc. Each flying bomb kit comes with its own display stand. It was hard to find these kits back in 1983, and they are a rarity now, especially in this condition. Make this DOUBLE KIT yours today! Only one in stock.
