(Sorry, out of stock...SOLD for $245.00) French Man-o-War Ship "La Couronne" Kit, by Imai. An incredibly detailed and hard-to-find 1/200 scale model kit of this famous ship. Imai, a very prolific (but sadly, now defunct) model company released a large line of highly-regarded ship models in the 1980's, many of which were from old Heller molds. "La Couronne" (French for "crown") was the first Man-o-War ship built in France for the French Navy in 1636. "La Couronne" was a war Galleon built by the French themselves in accordance to Richelieu's plans to renew the French Navy, after a series of ships built by the Dutch. The construction was overseen by the famous carpenter Charles Morieur, from Dieppe. She was one of the most advanced units of her time. She bore 68 heavy guns, 8 firing to the bow and 8 to the aft, an unusual feature until Dupuy de Lôme redesigned naval artillery. "Couronne" took part in the siege of Hondarribia in 1638, and another expedition to Spain in 1639 under Henri de Sourdis. Make this great kit part of your collection. MINT CONDITION, UNBUILT, EVERYTHING STILL "TREED" and BAGGED! O la la!! Out of stock.
