Come with me, if you will, back...back...back to the Orwellian year of 1984! A Japanese toy company named Takara signed a pact with the American Hasbro company to repackage and market some of its Microman toys to US kiddies. Some of these lucky few became known as (insert fanfare *here*) The Transformers!! The rest is history, my friends. This one, Bumblebee (a VW Beetle) is one of the very first. This "pre-Transformer" shifts from humanoid robot form to car with but a few manipulations. Just think of it...in the early 80's American kids had never really seen anything like these toys before and they became a phenomenon. You just had to have them. And open them. And play with them. A few, precious few, escaped the sweaty hands of kids at the bus stop...like this one: MINT ON SEALED CARD, PERFECTOMUNDO! This particular toy is packaged with another transforming "minispy" car. This RARE carded variation has Bumblebee pictured in RED even though it is carrying the YELLOW version of this toy. It also is in the early packaging with "TM" after the word "Transformers" instead of the more common "R". Don't pass this guy by!
