McDonald's Racing NHRA Joe Gibbs / Bill Elliott Raisin Bran Box, from Kellogg's. From 1996 comes this GREAT piece of sports memorabilia...a Raisin Bran cereal box with portraits of BOTH Joe Gibbs and winning NASCAR/NHRA driver Bill Elliott! Joe Gibbs is a former NFL football coach of the Washington Redskins, NASCAR Championship team owner, and two time NHRA Pro Stock team owner. During his first stint in the National Football League, he coached the Redskins for 12 seasons and led them to eight playoff appearances, four NFC Championship titles, and THREE Super Bowl titles! After retiring at the end of the 1992 season, he switched focus to his NASCAR team, Joe Gibbs Racing, which has won three championships under his ownership, one with former driver Bobby Labonte and two with Tony Stewart. His sons are also involved with Gibbs Racing. Around the time of this cereal box, Gibbs was also a part of the NHRA's McDonald's Racing Team with Bill Elliott and Cory McClenathan. Elliott had survived a HORRIFIC crash at Talladega Speedway in 1996 (the year of this cereal box) and was sidelined for a while to mend his broken bones. Gibbs and Elliott, in the time period depicted on this GREAT Raisin Bran box, were involved in drag racing, funny cars and stock cars for their sponsor McDonald's. In 2004, Gibbs came out of retirement (football!) to rejoin the Redskins again as head coach and team president...to less stellar results than before...and he left coaching (again) in 2008. Overall, during his 16 years with the Redskins, Gibbs had only three losing seasons and led the team to 10 playoff appearances. INCREDIBLE! This is an empty Raisin Bran box in great condition that would look great as part of your Racing or Redskins shrine. The back of the box has info about McDonald's Racing Team as well as an offer to send off for a terrific set of three Hot Wheels diecast race cars! Snag this piece of sports history today before it drives off into someone else's collection...FOREVER! Only one in stock.
