World War II 1942 U.S. Army Carlisle Bandage Pack
[RARE]
$35.00

World War II 1942 U.S. Army Carlisle Bandage Pack. Original issue from the early days of World War II, unopened and unused. The original Army package is dated "Sept. 18, 1942" and gives the contents "Small First-Aid Dressing - U.S. Army - Carlisle Model, Sterilized". Peripheral medical WWII memorabilia is hard to come by these days, and here is a RARITY. What were the events concerning September, 1942? America was fighting an uphill battle against two powerful foes, Japan and Germany. Things did not go smoothly for the U.S.A. in 1942...with battles on the land, sea, and in the air involving very heavy casualties. Guadalcanal was won but at a heavy price. The Third Reich was devouring Europe. One interesting historical tidbit from the date of this package's issue, September 18, 1942, was that the shipping lanes into Charleston, South Carolina, were found to have been mined by a Nazi German U-boat! Probably the most bizarre story from this same period in 1942 was that the Japanese (in retaliation for Jimmy Doolittle's raid on Tokyo) actually launched a small bomber from an offshore sub that attacked Mt. Emily, Oregon...and started a forest fire!! Yes, the mainland did see some action in WWII...a fact often overlooked. Anyway, here is a great piece of history, for your collecting pleasure. Only one in stock.
