Vintage "Curtiss P-36A" Kit (Monogram)
[RARE]
$45.00

Vintage "Curtiss P-36A" Kit, by Monogram. Wow! Here is a great classic model airplane kit from 1967 by one of the best, Monogram. Perfect condition, highly-detailed 1/72 scale plastic kit with all of its original decals and inserts, unbuilt and still on the "tree"! The P-36 was developed from the Curtiss "Hawk" Model 75, a prototype participant in a series of design competitions held by the Army Air Corps between 1935 and 1937. The Air Corps was so impressed by the performance of the P-36 that it ordered 210 of the aircraft, the largest military order of a single airplane type since World War I. Both France and England used the Hawk 75A in combat over Europe in 1939 and 1940. During 1941, the AAF transferred 39 of its P-36's to Hawaii and 20 to Alaska, and with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, two of the first six AAF fighters to get off the ground to meet the enemy were P-36's! Following the outbreak of hostilities, the outmoded P-36 was relegated to training and courier duties within the United States. A BEAUTIFUL plane born during the peacetime years of the 1930's...between the wars. A great price for this kit, over 40 years old. Only one in stock. "Off we go into the wild blue yonder, Climbing high into the sun; Here they come zooming to meet our thunder, At 'em boys, Give 'er the gun! (Give 'er the gun now!) Down we dive, spouting our flame from under, Off with one heckuva roar! We live in fame or go down in flame. Hey! Nothing'll stop the Army Air Corps! Minds of men fashioned a crate of thunder, sent it high into the blue. Hands of men blasted the world asunder, How they lived God only knew! Souls of men dreaming of skies to conquer gave us wings ever to soar, With scouts before and bombers galore, Hey! Nothing'll stop the Army Air Corps! Here's a toast to the host of those who love the vastness of the sky, To a friend we send a message of his brother men who fly. We drink to those who gave their all of old, Then down we roar to score the rainbow's pot of gold. A toast to the host of men we boast, the Army Air Corps. Zoom! Off we go into the wild sky yonder, Keep the wings level and true! If you'd live to be a grey-haired wonder, Keep your nose out of the blue! (Out of the blue, boy!) Flying men guarding the nation's border, We'll be there, followed by more, In echelon we carry on! Hey! Nothing'll stop the Army Air Corps!"...written by Capt. Robert Crawford in 1939 ...Mr. Pop Top thanks all those who flew to protect our freedoms.
