Tall Ship "Amerigo Vespucci" Kit, by Imai. From the early 1980's, here comes another great kit from that fabled Japanese model company of yore, Imai, based upon old Heller molds. A large one, too...worthy of any mantlepiece, in gorgeously detailed 1/150 scale. Named for the famous explorer (for whom "America" was so-named) "Amerigo Vespucci" was built in 1930 and serves as a school ship for Italy. She is present at most major "Tall Ship" gatherings, including the famous scene in 1976 in New York Harbor for the Bicentennial. Mr. Pop Top has seen this ship...it is quite unique in appearance compared to the other Tall Ships, with its broad, white striped hull...almost reminiscent of an old Man'oWar-type vessel. This SPLENDID Imai kit, long unavailable, is in MINT-CONDITION, COMPLETE, UNBUILT, PARTS STILL IN SEALED BAGS, WITH ALL INSERTS. Only one in stock. Mama mia! 'Atsa fine-a lookin' a-ship!
