National Geographic 1964/6 USS "Thresher" Tragedy Issue *SOLD*
[RARE]
$15.00

(Sorry, out of stock...SOLD for $15.00) National Geographic Magazine USS "Thresher" Tragedy Issue, from June 1964. A special issue in the wake of the tragic loss of the US nuclear submarine "Thresher"...articles on "Thresher" Tragedy Spurs Deep-Sea Research", "Lesson and Challenge", "Down to the "Thresher" by Bathyscaph", "Tomorrow on the Deep Frontier", "Exploring America Underground", "The Gooney Birds of Midway", "Down East to Nova Scotia", and "England's Fabled Mount of St. Michael". Whew! They sure used to pack a lot in one issue! Splendidly illustrated and written, in VG-F condition. Plenty of old ads as usual...a SPOOKY crushed doll photo in the Parke-Davis ad, a Norelco tape recorder ("don't let the small size fool you!"), a Ray-Ban sunglasses ad with a tight-lipped dude looking oh-so-very "I Spy", a Keystone "Table-Top Movie" projector, a giant Pontiac, a giant Ford Thunderbird, a giant Cadillac, and the obligatory frosty Coca Cola ad on the back cover. Magazine dimensions 10" x 7". Out of stock.
