Gun World Magazine (June 1968) "Lawman" TV Western Cover. Wow! A GREAT portrait pic of actor John Russell, who for four years on ABC was the "Lawman," one of television's early classic westerns! From 1958 to 1962 Russell portrayed the hardnosed Marshal of Laramie, Wyoming, Dan Troop. The show also starred Peter Brown and Peggie Castle, and featured a parade of owlhoots fixin' ta' get the Marshall such as Lee Van Cleef and Jack Elam. Other great character actors who appeared on "Lawman" were Doodles Weaver, Grady Sutton, John Carradine, Adam West, Sammy Davis, Jr. and a young Joel Grey...years before he went to the Cabaret! As for John Russell, he went on to star in many motion pictures, including "Rio Bravo" with John Wayne and several with his friend Clint Eastwood, including playing the bad-guy Marshal(!) in Clint's "Pale Rider" (1985). Russell was a Marine during World War II, serving at Guadalcanal, and then ended up in Republic Pictures westerns in the late 1940's. He died in 1991. Anyway...here is a wonderful magazine in MINT CONDITION from June of 1968, with helpful articles on "Shooting Down the Shadow" (poor Lamont Cranston!!) "New Leather for Lawmen" and "Plan Your Elk Hunt Now" (why put it off any longer?). Pick up this great mag for your collection today, especially if you are a fan of old TV westerns! Only one in stock.
