The Joker 1976/1 #5 (DC) *SOLD*
[RARE]
$15.00

(Sorry, out of stock...SOLD for $15.00) The Joker #5, from DC comics. A VF-MINT copy of this short-lived title from the 70's...this one is the January-February 1976 issue. A pretty good comic adventure, written by Marty Pasko regarding the Clown Prince of Crime's meeting with The Royal Flush Gang. No, gang, it's not about the Joker having plumbing problems. Irv Novick provides the artwork, kind of a cross between the Jim Aparo "look" with some retro 40's Bill Finger thrown in for good measure. The best thing about this comic, however, may be the ad for "Shrunken Head Apple Sculpture", a rarity from Milton Bradley that was a ghoulish version of the Mr. Potato Head concept. As Vincent Price lears he warns, "this could be YOUR head!". Yes, kiddies were encouraged to put plastic facial parts into rotting fruit and keep them on display for all to gaze at in rapt horror. Also, a great ad for Mattel's "Big Jim" action figures featuring Jack Kirby artwork. There's Evel Knievel on the back cover. There's an ad for the DC Comics Convention to be held at the Hotel Commodore in NYC in honor of Superman's birthday. And an ad for the Matchbox Collectors Club (Mr. Pop Top was a proud card-carrying member circa 1967). An ad for the Six-Million Dollar Man figure. An ad with Batman and Robin pushing Twinkies. Whew!! There's almost TOO much pop-culture goodness in this Joker comic from 40 years ago...make it a part of your collection today! Out of stock.
