Heavy Metal 1983/11 #8 (HM Communications)
[RARE]
$25.00

Heavy Metal, November 1983, from HM Communications. Hey gang! Here's a VF early copy of the legendary Heavy Metal magazine from November 1983. This is a SPECIAL ISSUE with not only an interview with legendary artist and creator of The Spirit, Will Eisner, but a SPIRITED adventure as well, featuring the always sultry P'gell!! Heavy Metal was an acquired taste, and a title that didn't exactly find its target audience for a while. Was it for teenage sci-fi fans? Was it for adults? It was on newsstands at 7-11 right there next to Playboy and Penthouse. The Slurpeejerks didn't seem to know where to display Heavy Metal, sometimes it was positioned down lower next to the chopper and bodybuilding magazines! Oh well...it was a bit of a forbidden fruit in those days. They were always full of brilliant artwork...this issue boasts Lou Stathis, Guido Crepax, John Findley, Jeff Jones, Jodorowsky and Arno, Steve Ringgenberg and Scott Hampton, Mike Baron, Ted White, Mitch Berger, Will Eisner (!), Tamburini and Liberatore, Miltos Scouras, Francisco Navarro and Jose Martin Sauri, Marcele and Lacome, Drew Friedman (!!), Rod Kierkegaard Jr., Paul Kirchner, David Dorman (CLASSIC front cover), and De Es Schwertberger (back)! The writing was always strong, thoughtful...and strange. Heavy Metal was well onto developing its cult following by this 1983 issue. Only one in stock.
