Psycho 1974/8 #22: "Fall Special" (Skywald)
[RARE]
$25.00

Psycho #22, the 1974 Fall Special, by Skywald Publishing. You've just gotta love the Skywald horror magazines from the 70's...some of the most lurid, blood-drippingly ghoulish artwork came from this short-lived publishing house. Skywald was a bit of an upstart company, made up of some former Marvel and Warren people who tried to go up against the big boys...and lost. Psycho was a consistently weird title in their small lineup; this issue being no exception. The 1974 Fall Special came out just in time for those back-to-school-bells to ring...or was that sound actually coming from some lonely churchbell overlooking a foggy graveyard?? Now that Mr. Pop Top has you in the mood, here is what lurks within the pages of this "Special Collector's Edition" issue: "Die, Frankenstein's Monster" (which has a cameo appearance by Dracula), "Revolution" by Tom Sutton and Dan Adkins (very reminiscent of old Flash Gordon strips), "The Vow", "Phantom of the Rock Era" illustrated by the great Ralph Reese, "The Midnight Slasher" written by the legendary Doug Moench, "Within the Torture Chamber", and "Vault of a Vampire" (no, it's not an Olympic event, gang). Lots of creepy characters menacing well-endowed ladies spilling out of their torn dresses, as usual...you got a lot for 75 cents back then! This copy of Psycho is in VF condition...these are hard to find these days, folks. Come to think of it, these were hard to find back in 1974, since it is more-than-rumored that the larger publishers kept Skywald's titles out of the market and off of most newsstands. Lucky you for finding this website...grab this copy of Psycho today! Only one in stock.
