Conan the Barbarian #55, by Marvel. A perfect *MINT* condition copy of this October 1975 title, with artwork by John Buscema to the Roy Thomas story "A Shadow on the Land". Conan was the creation of writer Robert E. Howard in the 1930's, but it wasn't until the 1970's with the re-issuing of the original novels combined with Marvel's popular comic that the character became a household word. And then came Arnold Schwarzenegger with his Conan movies and...the rest is history. An entire genre of "sword and sorcery" grew to rival that of the "sci-fi" followers with plenty of crossover. Great ads, as usual, in this issue...a "monster ghost" over 7 feet tall that "obeys your commands" for only a dollar, learn "Kung-Fu Karate" from an LP (that's a "record", er, audio recording on a vinyl disc...Mr. Pop Top knows that today's youth may not recognize the term!), send off for "40 free stamps from Red China", etc. Magazine size 10" x 6 1/2". Only one in stock. "Crom!!"
