Vintage Godzilla Model Kit, by Aurora. Here it is gang...one of the HOLY GRAILS of model collecting: the SUPER-RARE Aurora Godzilla kit...UNBUILT, MINT CONDITION, PARTS STILL ON TREES, TERRIFIC BOX. I mean, this looks as if it was still on the shelf at your local Hobby Shop, and it's still 1972. Open the window and look around...it isn't. It's over 40 years later. Hey, in 1972, Nixon had just won a landslide re-election, and the first sulpher-infused rumblings of the Watergate break-in were starting to fester and bubble to the surface. The Vietnam War raged on. George Wallace was shot. A First-Class Postage stamp was 8 cents. "The Godfather" and "Deliverance" were the big hits at the box-office. HBO was launched as the first cable-tv channel. "M. A. S. H." had just premiered on CBS. 1972 was a long time ago, dudes and dudettes. Everything has changed. At least, after all of these years, this great kit stayed the same...and resides in The Pop Top Shop for your collecting enjoyment! This "Glows in the Dark" Aurora moster kit is one of the most desirable in the legendary series of models, and they NEVER turn up in this condition...totally untouched. Instructions intact. Box with no edge-wear. The Aurora Godzilla is acknowledged to be the FIRST licensed Godzilla product in the United States when it first came out. The 1954 film was released in the States (with the goofy bits featuring Raymond Burr as "Steve Martin", crack reporter, to presumably "Westernize" the story line) but it took several years for it to become a hot commodity with the toy-buying kid crowd with its airings on TV in the 1960's. It was a natural for Aurora, who had already had great success with their Frankenstein, Dracula, Mummy, etc. Universal Monster kits to be the ones to tool up molds for 'ol dragonbreath. You will be really sorry if you pass this by and let it go into someone else's collection...only one in stock.
