Adventure Comics 1983/7 #501 (DC)
[RARE]
$25.00

Adventure Comics #501, from DC. From July of 1983 comes this digest-sized comic featuring "Two Legion of Super-Heroes Stories in Every Issue!". The venerable old title was in its last days, with but two more issues to go after this one. And is it GREAT?! Stories include: Plastic Man in "Codename: Pinkeye" by Martin Pasko, Joe Staton, and Bob Smith; The Legion in "Super Villains of All Ages" by Edmond Hamilton and John Forte; an uncredited Ultra Boy pin-up; Captain Marvel in "The Chameleon Stone" by William Woolfolk and C.C.Beck; The Spectre in "The Ghost That Haunted Money" by Gardner Fox, Jerry Grandinetti, and Murphy Anderson; a new feature The Ray in a self-titled tale by the legendary Will Eisner and Lou Fine; Aquaman in "When The Seas Die" by Steve Skeates, Jim Aparo, and Dick Giordano; and The Legion in "The Legionnaires Super-Contest!" by Hamilton and Forte. Whew! You sure got a lot for your money with these digest-sized comics, a format now used by just "Archie" and a few other titles. Too bad, 'cause these were great for taking along on long trips, or for easy storage on your top-of-the-toilet library in the "reading room"! And what a phenomenal cover on this one, straight out of the Golden Age...Hitler, Nero, and John Dillinger all leering at the miniaturized Justice League characters they hold in their sinewy clutches! Yowza!! And to top it all off, not only is this one in The Pop Top Shop in MINT CONDITION, but it is the RARE COVER VARIATION TYPE with "The Biggest Little Buy in Comics" in the lower left box instead of the more common "bar-code" version!! You will regret the day you let this comic go to someone elses' collection. Only one in stock.
